In today's world, finding common ground can be a difficult process. It seems that everyone is so entrenched in their own thoughts and ideas that it is near impossible to have a truly productive conversation and find commonalities, compromise, or agreement on just about anything. We are in a sense talking past each other, waiting only to interject our own ideas rather than actually listening to other thoughts, opinions, and beliefs. Common Ground will be in two parts. The first will explore this strife, friction, and tension that is ubiquitous today. The bass clarinet and piano will often "talk over" or "talk past" one another, rarely finding a common point of interaction. The second section will try to rectify the problems wrought in the first. It will be built as a collaborative section focusing on the ideas of resolution and togetherness.
