COMMISSIONS

As a composer, I am always eager to seek out new projects especially when I can find a collaborator who is excited about the project as well. Whether you have a clear idea of what you are looking for or are just interested in initiating a conversation, I want to hear from you! To get the process started, please complete the form below.

The commissioning process can proceed in a number of different ways, depending on your vision for the proposed project. I offer a tiered system ranging from individual/singular ensemble commissions to consortium commissions. With a consortium, there are different buy-in levels to fit a variety of situations and interest. Below is an example of a tiered consortium setup.

Standard Consortium Membership:

COMMISSION INTEREST FORM

- Name included in list of consortium members in the cover pages of the score - Name included in list of consortium members on website - Exclusive access to program the piece for set amount of time, determined by Derek and possibly the lead commissioner, after the lead commissioner gives the premiere performance - Digital copy of the score and parts - One set of hard copies will be available, upon request, for the price of shipping

Inner Circle Consortium Membership:

- All components of the Standard Consortium Membership - Access to two Zoom sessions with Derek and the other inner circle members. One at the beginning of the project and one at the end/near the end. Topics related to the piece will be discussed. - Discount on future consortium membership

Inner Circle Consortium Membership for Educators:

- All components of the Inner Circle Consortium Membership - Priced at 125% of the Inner Circle Consortium Membership - Additionally educator can pick one student to be given all of the above options too - Student’s name will be listed as a separate consortium member on the score and website - The student will be given all of the same perks as an Inner Circle Consortium Member

Student Consortium Membership:

- For currently enrolled students only - 50% off either the Standard or the Inner Circle Membership

PRESENTATIONS & MASTERCLASSES

I offer a variety of talks on different subjects, I am willing to tailor these talks to any type of audience. Among the topics that I can present on are "So you are a composer, what does that mean?", "The Iowa Band Law", and lectures on any of my compositions. Additionally, I can give masterclasses in the form of composition lessons in individual and group settings.
